Frequently Asked Questions

What time does the event start?
Gate opens for registrants 8:00am, placement of cars to 10:00am.

The event is open to the public and attendees at 10:00am

What time does the event end?
3:00 sharp. Cars will be directed to safely leave the site. NO DEPARTURES before 3:00pm.

What cars will be on display?
Everything! It’s a Collector Festival so there will be a range from top Exotics to modest cars with sentimental value. It’s an event where the public can enjoy your car

What if I arrive before 8:00?
The gate opens at 8:00 for exhibitors. If you arrive prior to 8:00 am we suggest you wait at staging areas such as Save-On Foods at Fort & Foul Bay or Hillside Mall. We DO NOT have any room to stage you on Oak Bay Ave or on surrounding residential streets. Early arrivals will be asked to leave and come back at 8:00am. This is especially important for groups who intend to arrive together

What if I arrive after 10:00?
The gate for exhibitors closes at 10:00am, after which time no more cars will be permitted on the site. The primary reason for this is public safety: with thousands of attendees present including children and seniors we cannot have cars moving on the street.

Can I leave the event before 3:00pm?
Departure before 3:00pm will not generally be alowed. Safety is the primary objective of the event. With thousands of attendees present, any moving vehicle can be a safety issue. Please arrive during placement 8:00am-10:00am and plan to leave at 3:00pm

Who puts on the event?
The Collector Car Festival is organized by Oak Bay Tourism

Can I bring more than one car?
Absolutely! And your friends will thank you for letting them drive the other car(s) for you that day!
Each car needs to be registered indiviually.

Is there a limit to number of cars on site?
Yes. Oak Bay Avenue has limited space and we generally meet that limit every year- about 300
cars. Pre-registration ensures there will be a spot for you. In all cases, you will be directed to your display spot by event staff

Can my group be placed together?
Cars are positioned as they arrive at the site. Please contact organizers to discuss group placement.

Is there a hotel nearby with parking?
The Oak Bay Beach Hotel is nearby. Click here for hotel information.

Is the event accessible?
Accessibility of the site is generally good. Most sidewalks adjacent to the display areas are accessible via curb cuts. Oak Bay Avenue and adjacent side streets will be closed to traffic on the day of the event. Caution is always advised for those concerned about mobility.

How can I volunteer to help out with the event?
Head over to our volunteer sign up page to get more information on volunteering and to sign up.

Will there be food on site?
Yes. Numerous local eateries will be open during the event, food trucks will be on site behind municipal hall, AND a charity BBQ!

Where does the registration money go?
The Oak Bay Collector Car Festival is managed as a non-profit, revenue-neutral event run by Oak Bay Tourism. Registration fees are used to insurance, security, emergency medical staff, marketing & promotion, rental of tents, tables, chairs, equipment, and of course, porta potties! The event is run 100% by dedicated volunteers with absolutely no salary or administration cost.
